How to Build Outdoor Fireplace

Localization
Consider where you want to build your fireplace to determine how large outdoor fireplace you can install. If you plan to build your new fireplace on an already built patio, make sure it is far enough away from your house, the garden, your plants and other surroundings that stray sparks won't cause a fire hazard.
Also, make sure there's enough room on the patio for people to sit about three feet of the fire. If fun is more important than the cooking, make sure you have plenty of room to sit around the fire. Again, using a fire pit that looks more like a camp, a fireplace may be the best option for you.

Buy Fireplace
Once you have decided the location and size of your fireplace, it is time to start your shopping. There are some books that have outdoor fireplace plans. But the best thing to do is to buy a prefabricated outdoor fireplace to install yourself, or you can hire a contractor with experience in the construction of outdoor fireplaces to do the work for you.
That's because knowing how to build an outdoor fireplace can be difficult. You must know exactly what you're doing so the fireplace will draw properly and so that it is safe for people around it. Some communities have strict rules when it comes to chimneys and the quality of outdoor air. It can be much easier for you to entrust the job to a professional.

Build It Yourself
If you're simply building a surround for a fire pit, you can certainly do it yourself. Just make sure you use bricks, which were noted for use in the vicinity of the fire, or buy stones to surround your chimney. This is a small weekend project and a relatively inexpensive thing you can do completely by yourself.
